I am 35 years and enjoy cycling. I don't do it enough but for the past two years I have managed the Make-A-Wish Wishpedlars event which is about 54 miles. The first year I really prepared and it was a lot easier than last year when other events (my wedding) took priority over practice.

This time round, we are preparing well... well that's the plan anyway!

As I've just hit 40 I thought this ride would be a good challenge. I have cycled from a young age, my first bike was a Raleigh Chippy.

I too have ridden two Wishpedlars events from Camberley to Southsea completing both in about 3.5 hours.

I wanted to start my training early but with these dark nights I had to think of something else. A friend told me about a turbo trainer he'd purchased so I went off and got one myself. I set this up in my shed and I try and do three sessions per week. My neighbours must think I'm mad when they hear a humming noise coming from the shed and then I appear in my Lycras - scary!

We plan on raising £5000.00 for the charity. What makes this charity unique is they don't have a single focus. Action Medical Research is looking for answers to a wide range of diseases and conditions that affect young and old.
